Anyway: My reasoning:
I am a fan who hates the idea of Sonic really having a steady relationship. I really am. Although I feel that if he DID have one, Amy would be his best choice, I think he shouldn't unless it's needed.
And do you guys know why this is so? It is very simple.
His character.
Sonic is a character that is BASED ON FREEDOM. That is all that Sonic is based on. Freedom is his life, and his motive. And it takes the form in his being not only a hero, but simply the "world's fastest hedgehog".
The reason that he loves running is the feeling of freedom that goes with it.
In truth, freedom is sorta what makes Sonic, Sonic.
So please, can somebody tell me why it is that this character who IS based on freedom would even want to be tied down?
NOT having the blessing of somebody who is willing to keep up with HIM; but being tied down.
Because that is all that is going to happen with a certain Chipmunk character we all know I hate.
Sally Acorn is a character based on control. Have you guys noticed this? Sally is a person who grew up as a princess:
she was taught from a young age that she needs to be responsible, and she needs to be a leader. And she was also taught that in order for this to happen she needs to be in control of the situation. [I get this from who her father is: the guy who is continuously fighting to keep control on his former kingdom even now]
Sally is always proclaimed as the strategist; this would have ALSO contributed to her need to be controlling of the situation.
But that is not all. Recently Sally's development has shown that Sally is the type of person who needs people to be there for her. She depends upon people and she is insecure about loosing people she cares about.
Those two traits: Controlling and Possessive/Dependent are what makes up her character.
And so that leads us back to my question:
If this chick IS a controlling and possessive person, then why the heck would a guy who is all about FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE want to be in a relationship with her?
It does not make sense.
It will never make sense.
People will try to argue that they are supposed to be able to "compromise". Yeah: No. Sit Down.
Sonic is many things, but he is never a compromiser. He doesn't WORK like "Okay, I see both sides now I'll find an answer".
He is the person who will run into trouble without knowing or caring about what side you are on as long as he is doing what is right.
He will not change for another person.
It's not going to happen.
But it is also not likely to happen with Sally either.
Although Sally is supposed to be able to be level headed and compromising, she has shown that there is a limit for her.
Take the slapping scene where she calls Sonic selfish for his choosing his lifestyle over her.
She can compromise when it comes to policy or government, but emotionally she isn't quite that capable.

I love this Post Because Sally does Bosses Sonic at times, She doesn't like chili dogs like sonic does and She also Kiss other Boys to make Sonic the Hedgehog Jealous. Well she is made to be a love Interest of Sonic and not a Cheater. So I don't think Sonic and Sally would make a great Couple at all. I perfer Sonic to Go with Amy in my opinion.
