It's true.
It's a very sad thing when the fans of a character are more rabid about it than the actual haters.
Hater:
-Makes art or deviations about their opinion to critique a character, with details and support.
Fan:
-Makes hate art of anybody who criticizes character, bashes them in journals, calls them Hitler, makes fun of them in blogs... etc.
Stop bashing haters.
It only makes it worse.

I think the only one who really ever characterized Sally best was the late Ben Hurst, SatAM's primary writer.
He knew that Sally would never be perfect, and portrayed her with her flaws that she could overcome.
It makes me sad that Ben's vision for Sally could not be completed in his lifetime, and MAD AS HELL that Ken Penders ended up sabotaging Ben's attempts to have his version of events for Sally finished. Ken needs his ass visited with a Size 22 shoe, with the heel deep in the crack, and with no lube, to where it needs to be removed in hospital.
Ken treated Ben like shit. And, vicariously, Ken treated Sally like shit too.
